Break Builder ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Break Builder mobile application ("the App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name / username
  • Password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication — we never store passwords in plain text)
  • Skill difficulty level (beginner, intermediate, advanced, or professional)

1.2 App Content You Create

We store the content you add within the App, including:

  • Match records (opponents, scores, highest breaks, locations, tournament names, notes)
  • Practice sessions (drill types, shot counts, balls potted, performance metrics)
  • Visibility settings for your content (private, friends, or public)

1.3 Usage and Analytics Data

We collect anonymised usage data to help us improve the App, including:

  • App features used and navigation patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
  • Crash reports and error logs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
  • App performance metrics such as load times (via Firebase Performance Monitoring)
  • Device type, operating system version, and app version

This data is anonymised and cannot be used to identify you directly.

1.4 Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

  • Payment information
  • Location data (GPS)
  • Contacts or address book data
  • Photos or media from your device

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide and operate the App's core features
  • Store and sync your match and practice data across devices
  • Improve the App's functionality, performance, and user experience
  • Diagnose and fix bugs and technical issues
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services that may collect data as described in their respective privacy policies:

3.1 Firebase (Google LLC)

We use multiple Firebase services:

  • Firebase Authentication — manages secure sign-in and account management
  • Firebase Analytics — anonymised usage analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
  • Firebase Performance Monitoring — app performance data

3.2 Amazon Web Services (AWS)

Your account data and app content are stored securely on AWS infrastructure in the us-east-1 (N. Virginia) region. AWS is operated by Amazon.com, Inc. You can review AWS's privacy policy at aws.amazon.com/privacy.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App's services. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and app content within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

  • All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS encryption)
  • Database encryption at rest
  • Passwords managed by Firebase Authentication (never stored by us in plain text)
  • Access controls and security monitoring on our infrastructure

While we take data security seriously, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can view your profile and app data within the App at any time.
  • Correction: You can update your account information in the App's settings.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account directly from the App. This will permanently delete your account and all associated data.
  • Data portability: You may request a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Objection: You may opt out of analytics collection by adjusting your device's privacy settings for the App.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their data, please contact us.

8. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored and processed on servers located in the United States (AWS us-east-1). By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by notifying you through the App. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
